Historic figure at the Sant Cugat CAR: 32 hockey players will join the high-performance program.
23/09/2026
Catalan hockey begins the new sports season by reaching an unprecedented milestone: in its fourth consecutive year at the Sant Cugat High-Performance Centre (CAR), the program is adding eight new athletes, achieving a record total of 32 scholarship recipients for the 2026–2027 season. This expansion of places solidifies the ongoing growth of a key talent development project driven jointly by the Catalan Hockey Federation, the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Sports, and the CAR.
The aim of this initiative is to continue fostering emerging young talent in the sport, providing athletes with all the tools and resources needed to grow both athletically and personally within an environment of excellence. The 32 scholarship recipients will work under a comprehensive model that combines elite technical and tactical training with personalized academic monitoring, facilitated by the high school integrated into the sports complex itself.
The official photo session was attended by the Government of Catalonia’s Minister of Sports, Berni Álvarez; the Secretary General for Sports, Abel García; the President of the Catalan Hockey Federation, Xavier Adell; and the Director of the Sant Cugat CAR, Ramon Terrassa.
With over three decades as an international benchmark in high-performance sports, the Sant Cugat CAR places state-of-the-art facilities and specialized support—covering physical conditioning, sports medicine, psychology, physiology, and biomechanics—at the service of Catalan hockey. With this record number of athletes in its fourth year of operation—following the launch of the 2023–2024 season—the project reaffirms the Federation's commitment to fostering high-performance development and training the future leading figures of Catalan hockey.
