On Sunday, September 13, the Club Egara facilities hosted a major celebration of Catalan field hockey with the finals of the Division of Honor A Catalan Championship. The event—marked by a strong turnout of fans in the stands and a high level of competition on the pitch—concluded with a double victory for Club Junior, which was crowned champion in both the men's and women's categories.
Men's final: excitement right to the very end (3-2)
The men's final between Club Junior and Atlètic Terrassa was a high-intensity clash featuring constant lead changes. The Terrassa side struck first in the 13th minute with a goal from Marc Albericio, putting his team ahead (0-1) after capitalizing on a loose ball in the circle.
The response from the Sant Cugat team came after the break. In an electric third quarter, Aleix Bozal turned the game around in just two minutes (41st and 42nd) with two unstoppable penalty corner strikes. Far from giving up, Atlètic Terrassa responded with seven minutes remaining; Xavi Castelló fired a powerful shot from the top of the circle to make it 2-2. Just as the match was heading toward its conclusion, Aleix Bozal struck again—completing his hat-trick via a penalty corner with two minutes left—to score the decisive 3-2 goal that secured a second consecutive title for Club Junior.
In the match for third and fourth place, Club Egara rounded out the competition's podium after defeating CD Terrassa. Women's Final: Dominance and clinical finishing in the circle (0-5)
In the women's final, Club Junior demonstrated superior attacking efficiency against the host team, Club Egara. After a first quarter defined by tactical parity and mutual respect, the Sant Cugat side broke the deadlock in the second period with goals from Clara Pérez and Maria Gestí (0-2).
In the second half, Junior extended their lead by capitalizing on attacking opportunities; a brace from Mariona Serrahima and a goal from Tere Lima sealed the final 0-5 scoreline and secured the Catalan title. Meanwhile, Atlètic Terrassa claimed third place in the women's category by defeating CD Terrassa.
The Catalan Hockey Federation wishes to extend special thanks to the fans who filled the stands for their dedication, passion, and sportsmanship, as well as to the participating clubs, coaching staffs, and officials for making this great spectacle possible.
