Catalan leading role in the Hockey+ world runner-up championship

The first edition of the FIH Para Hockey World Cup has ended with an unforgettable milestone: the Spanish Hockey+ team has been proclaimed world runner-up after winning a well-deserved silver medal. The success has a strong Catalan accent, starting with the bench, led by Catalan coach Xavi Ferré, and continuing with the presence of five Catalan athletes in the squad who have played a decisive role throughout the competition.

The Spanish team came close to winning gold in a thrilling final against Italy (5-4) at the Belfius Hockey Stadium. Despite going into halftime 3-1 down, Ferré's team competed until the end thanks to the stellar performance of Marc Campabadal, who scored four goals that kept hope alive until the last play.

The team completed an impeccable tournament to reach the final, with an absolute record of seven victories in the group stage and a devastating record of 35 goals scored and only 9 against.
