RC Polo takes home the Copa del Rey and Club Egara takes bronze in the Copa de la Reina

Sant Cugat del Vallès was the scene this weekend of the 109th edition of the Copa del Rey and the Copa de la Reina 2026. The Club Junior 1917 facilities hosted an intense competition where the balance for our home teams closed with absolute dominance in the men's category (gold and silver) and a third place in the women's.

RC Polo adds its 34th Copa del Rey against Atlètic Terrassa

The men's grand final guaranteed that the title would stay in Catalonia with a one hundred percent Catalan duel between RC Polo and Atlètic Terrassa HC. In a very tactical match and with few scoring opportunities, the balance was decided in the 49th minute, when Nico Laplaza took advantage of a rejection by Atlètic's youth goalkeeper, Lukas Palau, to score the final 0-1.

With this victory, Ramon Sala's team adds its 34th Copa del Rey, expanding its record as "king of cups". Atlètic Terrassa, for its part, closes the tournament as runner-up after signing a great championship and having overcome CD Terrassa in the quarter-finals (2-1) and Club de Campo in the semi-finals. As for the rest of the Catalan representatives, Club Egara fell precisely to the champion in the quarter-finals, the same round in which the host, Club Junior, was overcome by Sanse Complutense.

Bronze for Club Egara

In the women's category, the title has traveled to Madrid after Club de Campo was awarded the Copa de la Reina. The Catalan representation on the podium has been in charge of Club Egara, which has obtained the bronze medal. The Terrassa team beat UD Taburiente in the match for third and fourth place, thus recovering from the cruel elimination in the semifinals against Sanse Complutense in the shootout.

Egara's path began with a victory in the quarterfinals against Atlético Terrassa (0-3). In the same initial round of quarters, both RC Polo (against UD Taburiente) and Club Junior (against Club de Campo) were eliminated in the shootout after drawing their respective matches.
