THE CATALAN UNDER-16 TEAMS CLOSED THE SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A GOLD AND A SILVER IN VALENCIA

The Catalan Hockey Federation concludes its participation in the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Teams U-16, held in Valencia, with a balance of a championship title in the men's category and a runner-up in the women's category.

Absolute dominance of the men's team

The men's team, led by coach Oriol Torras and coach Albert Lis, has been proclaimed Spanish champion with an impeccable record. The team began the competition with resounding victories over Andalusia (8-0), Asturias (13-0) and Cantabria (6-0), qualifying for the final without conceding a single goal.

In the final, Catalonia defeated the Madrid team by a clear 4-0, confirming its superiority throughout the tournament and ending the competition with a goalless draw.


Women's runner-up in the shootouts

In the women's category, the team led by Stefy Piris has obtained the silver medal. The road to the final was marked by victories against Asturias (6-0), the Canary Islands (10-0) and the Basque Country (6-1).

In the title match against Madrid, the Catalan team took the lead through a penalty corner goal by Elena Umbert. Despite dominating the game, the Madrid team managed to draw (1-1) in the final moments of the match. Finally, the title was decided in the shootout, where the Madrid team took the victory.

Individual awards and Fair Play

The performance of the Catalan teams has also been reflected in the individual awards awarded by the championship organization:
