The Catalan Hockey Super League is born: the new elite of Catalan hockey
17/02/2026
The Catalan Hockey Federation presents the Catalan Super League, the new reference category that is born this 2026 to professionalize the elite of our sport. With a highly demanding format and cash prizes for the champions, the competition will become the maximum competition in Catalan hockey.
This 2026 marks a before and after on the competitive map of our territory. The Catalan Hockey Federation promotes the Catalan Super League, a strategic project that was born to provide Catalan hockey with its own and demanding elite competition. With an eye on excellence, the new category seeks to raise the technical level of the players and offer an attractive spectacle for clubs and fans.
A new horizon for the 1a Catalana teams
The Super League is specially designed for the Primera Catalana teams (both men's and women's). The aim is for top-level players who do not compete in the state honour divisions (DHA or DHB) to have a high-quality league, with a stable 10-month calendar and high competitive demands.
To guarantee the plurality of the competition and make it a real showcase of our country's talent, a limitation of a maximum of two teams per club in this category has been established.
Key dates
The official calendar has already been set for this first edition:
• Start of the Super League: March 8, 2026.
• Final Four: May 17, 2026.
As the grand culmination of the season, the competition will be decided by a Final Four. The four best teams from the regular phase will travel to a single venue to play the semi-finals and the grand final, concentrating all the excitement of the title in one weekend.
Visual identity and prizes
The competition debuts a new visual identity. The logo, which combines the silhouette of Catalonia transformed into a triangle with the SCH monogram, symbolizes the roots in the territory, the stability and the strength of the new stage.
As a great incentive to recognize sporting excellence, the Super League will incorporate, for the first time, a cash prize for the champion teams.
A boost to growth
With this step forward, the Catalan Hockey Federation seeks to generate more visibility and strengthen its own talent. The project includes a specific communication plan and collaboration with the media to bring the sport closer to the general public.
The Federation will continue to work side by side with the clubs to consolidate this competition that marks, from now on, a new stage in Catalan hockey.
