10/12/2025
The Spanish U-21 men's team has won a valuable silver medal at the World Cup held in Chennai (India), after falling in the final against Germany in a very tight shootout (1-1 / 3-2). The team, led by Catalan Oriol Torras and with fourteen Catalan players on the roster, has starred in an excellent championship that culminates in a historic result: it is the first time that Spain has reached the final of this category.
The decisive match has been marked by balance and intensity from the first minute. Germany took the lead in the 25th minute, but the Spanish team responded quickly with a 1-1 score by Nicolas Mustaros just before the start of the second half. Neither team managed to unbalance the score before the end of regulation time, and the title was decided in the shootout. Despite starting the round successfully, Spain ended up losing 3-2.
The journey to the final confirms the great moment of the national team: an agonizing victory in the quarterfinals against New Zealand (4-3), a decisive victory against Argentina in the semifinals (2-1) and an impeccable group stage with three victories against Egypt (8-0), Belgium (2-0) and Namibia (13-0).
The Catalan Hockey Federation congratulates all the players, staff and especially the Catalan representatives for their excellent participation in a World Cup that leaves a milestone for our hockey.
