The Hockey+ Project celebrates its 20th anniversary by recovering the Catalan national team and releasing accessible regulations
27/11/2025
The Catalan Hockey Federation held an event today at the High Performance Centre in Sant Cugat to commemorate 20 years of the Hockey+ Project and promote its new stage with the official presentation of the Catalan hockey+ team and the launch of the new adapted regulations.
The event was attended by players representing the Catalan clubs participating in the project, as well as collaborating entities, personalities who have contributed decisively to its growth over two decades and authorities such as Abel Garcia, general secretary of sports.
20 years of success and social commitment
The Hockey+ Project, started in 2006, has consolidated itself as a benchmark discipline, offering people with intellectual disabilities the possibility of enjoying field hockey in a safe and competitive environment. During the presentation, the commitment of the Federation, which is committed to equal opportunities and inclusion as central axes of its work, was highlighted.
To celebrate these 20 years, the new logo commemorating the anniversary of the project has been presented and it has been announced that several commemorative events will be held throughout the year to celebrate this milestone.
Accessible regulations and the Catalan selection
During the event, the first cognitively accessible regulations for Catalan hockey were presented, designed with the easy-to-read methodology. This advance will allow players to learn the rules of the game autonomously, reinforcing their independence and positioning the project as a benchmark for good practices.
The second major milestone of the day was the recovery of the Catalan Hockey+ team. The team, which was already active between 2010 and 2015, wants to offer participants new opportunities to compete at an international level, projecting the image of Catalan hockey as a benchmark for inclusion.
The event served to reinforce the Catalan Hockey Federation's commitment to a more inclusive sports model, culminating two decades of work on the Hockey+ Project. The Catalan national team and the new accessible regulations make Catalan hockey a benchmark for good practices, highlighting the contribution of Hockey+ athletes to a fairer and more respectful society with diversity.
