Catalan hockey dominates in Santander and is proclaimed double Spanish Champion

3/11/2025

Catalonia has made history again at the Spanish Autonomous Under-18 Championship, held in Santander from October 30 to November 2. The Catalan national teams, both men's and women's, have been proclaimed champions of Spain, consolidating a new record: seven consecutive editions winning both titles, reaffirming themselves as the undisputed reference in state hockey.

A triumphant path

The women's national team, led by Stefy Piris, completed an impeccable journey where their superiority was clear from the start. The girls convincingly defeated Cantabria (4-0), Asturias (8-1) and Valencia (11-0) before defeating Madrid (2-0) in the semifinals. The grand final against Asturias was another exercise in solidity that ended with a 2-0 victory, sealing the gold.

For its part, Albert Lis' men's team followed a similar path of dominance, showing great force. After defeating Cantabria (7-3), Galicia (9-0) and Valencia (3-0), the boys faced Madrid in the final. In a duel where concentration and efficiency were at their best, Catalonia achieved a 2-0 victory, adding a new title to Catalan history.

Individual talent confirms collective excellence

This new success of Catalan hockey is not only reflected in the collective results, but also in the individual recognitions that highlighted the talent of our players. Anna Borràs was awarded the prize for the Best Player of the Tournament, while Anna Marquès took home the prize for the Highest Scorer, demonstrating that Catalan sport is an inexhaustible source of talent.

This seventh consecutive double is much more than a statistic: it is proof of the excellent training work and the competitive spirit that characterizes hockey in Catalonia. The Catalan Federation congratulates the teams and their technical teams for keeping the flag of our sport at the top of the national panorama.
