The international +80 category on the Catalan agenda: All the details of the first matches in Spain

The Catalan Hockey Federation (FCH) is expanding the information on the historic veteran matches in the +80 category, which will make Catalonia the reference point for this pioneering modality in Spain. The matches, which will take place on November 8 and 9, will feature international referees from the Grand Masters category, ensuring the highest organizational quality.
A multinational Rest of Europe for the great challenge
The Rest of Europe team will be the rival to beat for the current continental champion, England. This team highlights the international cooperation of the World Grand Masters Association (WGMA) and will feature players from six different countries.
The composition, which includes Catalan hockey legends, will be as follows:
- 5 Spain
- 4 Wales
- 3 Scotland
- 2 Germany
- 1 Belgium
- 1 Netherlands
Grand Masters refereeing level
The event will feature the rigor of international refereeing. The matches will be directed by two members with extensive experience in the Grand Masters category since 2008: Antonio Tolomei (Italy) and Dan Holboer (Netherlands). Their presence is an added value that the Federation wants to highlight.
The expansion of a pioneering category
These matches are part of the rise of the +80 category at a global level. Since its inception in 2020, it has evolved rapidly with milestones such as the incorporation of Australia and the celebration of the first European Championship in 2025. The peak will come in 2026 with the celebration of the first +80 World Cup in Breda (Netherlands).
