The Catalan Hockey Federation and Ecoembes join forces to promote sustainability and recycling in sport

The Catalan Hockey Federation and Ecoembes have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting the selective collection of waste and fostering more sustainable practices within the sports field. Ecoembes is a non-profit organization that has been promoting the recycling of household plastic, metal, brick, wood, paper and cardboard packaging in Spain since 1997. Its purpose is to work for a future without waste through reduction, reuse and recycling, leaving a positive impact on society and the environment.

This agreement will allow clubs and facilities to be equipped with selective collection points, with specific containers for packaging and paper/cardboard. In addition, awareness and training campaigns will be carried out to make clubs and athletes aware of the importance of correctly separating waste and reducing the environmental impact of sports activity.

Since the end of 2022, the project has been underway in Catalonia and represents a firm step within the Federation's Corporate Social Responsibility policy, which considers environmental preservation as one of its strategic pillars. This collaboration also responds to Ecoembes' founding mission: to care for the planet through recycling and sustainability.

“This agreement is a great opportunity to add our sport to the fight for a more sustainable future. We firmly believe that sport can be a driver of change, and with initiatives like this we take another step towards caring for our environment”, declared Xavier Adell, president of the Catalan Hockey Federation.

With this initiative, the Catalan Hockey Federation and Ecoembes invite all clubs and sports entities to join a project that combines sport, awareness and sustainability, actively contributing to the care of the environment and the well-being of the planet.
