TWO CATALAN TEAMS IN THE 1ST EDITION OF THE EHCO TROPHY
16/03/2023
The junior
women's Junior HC and the men's CD Terrassa will participate in the first
edition of the EHCO TROPHY, a competition in which they will face the current
youth champions of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in the women's and
men's categories.
The championship
will be held from April 7 to 10 in Amsterdam, at the Wagener Stadium and the
annex field of the Amsterdamer HC, coinciding with the celebration of the EHL.
Atlético Terrassa will be the Spanish representative in the men's ABN AMRO EHL
FINAL8; Sanse Complutense and Club de Campo will do it in the women's FINAL8.
The EHCO
(European Association of Hockey Clubs) is chaired by the Real Club de Polo
player, Leandro Martínez-Zurita, and includes the associations of hockey clubs
in Spain (AECHH chaired by Jaime Coghen), Germany, Austria, Netherlands and
Belgium. The EHCO was created in 2021 in order to jointly represent its
interests before the International Federation (FIH) and the European Federation
(EHF). The AECHH was formalized in December 2020 in Valencia during the Copa
del Rey and de la Reina and the clubs that compete in the Men's and Women's
Divisions of Honor are part of it.
In this 1st
edition of the EHCO TRPHY Junior FC will play against German Bremer, Belgian
Royal Orée and Dutch SCHC. CD Terrassa will do it with the German Harvestehuder
THC, the Belgian Royal Orée and the Dutch Amsterdamsche HC. As a novelty, in
this edition, under-19 players will be able to compete in order to reward the
efforts of last season's champions.
The aim of the
EHCO Trophy is to bring high-level European hockey to clubs that do not have
the opportunity to play in an EHL and to the youth category whose members are
not always able to access a national team or a first team of division of honor
In future editions
it is hoped to be able to expand the competition with the English champions
and/or the finalists of each EHCO member country.
